Brake fluid change
Replacing brake fluid or full brake-system service is critically important for any vehicle. Brake fluid creates pressure on the brakes and allows the vehicle to stop. It absorbs moisture from the atmosphere (it is hygroscopic), which weakens its quality. Brake fluid is also exposed to very high temperatures during braking.
If the brake fluid is not replaced, major problems can develop in the brake system. Oil deposits can clog the brake lines, creating low braking pressure (which leads to slower braking or no braking at all).
The recommended interval for brake fluid replacement is after 4 years and then every 2 years. For vehicles older than 15 years the recommended interval is once a year.
For the brake system to work correctly, all components of the system must be in good condition — the master cylinder, the lines, the ABS module (if equipped), hoses, calipers, brake brackets, discs, drums, pads, the parking brake system, etc.
When inspecting and replacing these components it is essential to do the work to the highest professional standard so that the brake system runs reliably for a long time.
