Air, fuel and cabin filter change
The air, fuel and cabin filters also have a defined service life. The air filter (engine intake filter) ensures the best possible airflow into the engine and prevents anything other than air (fine sand, insects, etc.) from entering it.
The cabin filter ensures that air drawn from outside is filtered, blocking exhaust gas particles (filters with activated carbon), pollen, sand, leaves and various insects.
Fuel filters differ for petrol and diesel engines. Their role is to ensure unobstructed fuel flow into the engine and to filter any deposits and impurities from the fuel.
Clogged filters or filters that can no longer perform their function can cause major problems in engine operation.
The cabin filter is also very important — it allows clean air to circulate inside the car. When servicing the air filter, all fluids in the vehicle should be checked and topped up as needed, along with wipers, signaling, the car interior, full diagnostics, A/C and ventilation, tires (condition and pressure), brakes, the parking brake, exhaust, suspension, V-belt, fluid leaks, etc.
Issues with diesel cars equipped with DPF/FAP systems most often appear due to short-distance driving. The most common need is DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration. There are two types of DPF regeneration — static (the vehicle runs in regen mode while standing) and dynamic (the vehicle has to be driven). In some situations the DPF cannot be cleaned by regeneration and must be removed for cleaning at a specialized service.
